It rained the night before but the day of Wendy and Joshs’ wedding was perfect! Blue skies, some light clouds. Wendy got her hair done a the spa at the Bahia Principe Tulum and then got ready in her room with her bridesmaids. The ceremony was held at the gazebo on the beach and once Wendy and Josh were officially husband and wife we took a few minutes to take photos with the gorgeous scenery. The reception dinner was held at the Mediterranean restaurant where guests toasted the bride and groom.

After a long day of lounging by the pool I am finally ready to write about this wedding. Jennifer started the day getting her hair done at the spa at The Reserve side of the Paradisus Palma Real. While we were leaving the spa she ran into another bride getting married that day who was also named Jennifer! What are the odds? Her dress and all the details (i.e. rings, flowers, invitation) were back at the room which is where she started getting ready. The invitations were passports with their picture inside and information about the wedding activities.
I went over to where Cory was getting ready to get some shots of him and also some photos with his family. The guys never take as long as the girls
I went back to Jennifer’s to get her putting on her dress which her mom and soon to be mother-in-law helped her with. We took a few photos in the hall outside the room and then it was off to the ceremony!
The ceremony was on the beach and although it was small in terms of invited guests there were quite a few onlookers. Who doesn’t like to see people get married? Afterwards we took some family portraits and then Jennifer, Cory and I set off to walk around to take some of them. We didn’t have to go far since this resort is so beautiful wth tons of variety so we were able to get a bunch of different shots in less than 30 minutes, then we headed back to enjoy the end of cocktail hour.
At the reception everyone enjoyed a buffet style dinner and Jennifer and Cory danced their first dance. Immediately after cutting the cake the power went out for a few minutes which was actually kind of nice since there was still music (an battery powered ipod) and candlelight. After the reception ended there was a Michael Jackson show that some of the guest went to enjoy but I was exhausted and excited to post the pictures so I just retired to my room.
Jennifer and Cory – Enjoy the rest of your stay!

They day started at the spa at The Reserve side of the hotel.

Back to the hotel.

View from the bride’s room. Not bad.

No heels for Jennifer. She didn’t even wear the flip flops half the time.

Went from Las Vegas directly to Punta Cana for Jennifer and Cory’s wedding on the beach. It’s the day before and I thought I’d take a stroll around and capture the beauty of this resort… Stay tuned for their wedding pictures which I’ll post in the next few days!

This past week I had the opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the best wedding photographers in the business at a conference in New Orleans. The last day I had shooting workshop with the fabulous wedding photographer Grant Oakes who I saw speak during a seminar the day before. I really enjoyed being able to work with models and practice on “brides” when it wasn’t the biggest day of their lives! It gave me a little room to experiment more and take a few risks that I otherwise wouldn’t have. Here are a few photos from that shoot…

Some locals were checking us out!
